Arrest Made in the Roderick Levann Davis Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to the murder of Roderick Levann Davis. Roderick Davis was found beaten to death on Saturday, March 23, 2024, in the 400 Block of 1st Street West.

The suspect has been identified as:

Terrell Dewayne Humphrey II, (35), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

The suspect turned himself into police custody.

Birmingham Police Detectives presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained a warrant for Murder.

Terrell Humphrey II is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail and has No Bond.

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

The victim has been identified as:

Roderick Levann Davis, (63), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At approximately 8:19 a.m., North Precinct officers were dispatched to a Person Down call in the 400 Block of 1st Street West, Elyton Neighborhood.

When officers arrived on the scene, they observed an adult male lying face down in a grassy area unresponsive, with facial abrasions.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

Officers notified BPD Homicide detectives who began conducting an unclassified death investigation.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office arrived on the scene and took care and custody of the victim.

The preliminary investigation suggests a community member observed the victim down and called 911 Emergency Services. Initially, it was believed that the victim may have died of natural causes and the abrasions were caused due to the fall to the ground.

At approximately 10:20 a.m., the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office ruled this investigation a homicide.

The victim was physical assaulted.

There is no one in custody.

This is Birmingham’s 29th murder investigation of 2024 with 3 justifiable death investigations.

The Birmingham Police Department adheres to FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines set for all law enforcement agencies across the United States. FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines do not require law enforcement agencies to include justifiable death investigations in the total homicide investigations counts.
